“Gal” in Red

This past weekend, I attended a Christmas party at my friends apartment in Jersey City. As opposed to the oh-so-fun but commonly-done “ugly sweater party”, my friends decided to put on an elegant Christmas dinner party, and wanted everyone to get dressed up in their holiday best. I was so excited to be invited and to go, and I started thinking about what to wear! My mind immediately went to one specific dress: the Ruby dress from the recently-released Gal Meets Glam holiday collection.

You guys know how much of a fan I am of Julia Engel and her amazing line of dresses (read previous posts of me wearing GMG dresses here and here), and when the holiday campaign was released, my eyes were immediately drawn to the red satin tuxedo-style dress Julia was modeling. It was perfectly tailored, very comfortable, and even had pockets! It was also thick and warm enough, that when I took off my jacket for pictures, I wasn’t totally frozen.

It is COLD here in New Jersey, so I had to bundle up to get from my house to the party – I completed my look with a faux fur cropped jacket, black heels, a Judith Leiber clutch (borrowed from my mom!), some gorgeous jewelry, and of course – a red lip! My lipstick is from Kylie Cosmetics, and was one of the first lipsticks I bought from her makeup line when she first launched it. I wore my hair straight in a half up/half down style that was fastened with a barrette that I’ve owned for years! The Manhattan skyline provided the perfect backdrop for my mini-shoot in Jersey City, even though it was starting to get dark!

We all had the most amazing time at the party! It was super fun to get all gussied up to celebrate the holiday and Christmas season, and to see everyone in their holiday best. We all had fun just being together while indulging in delicious food and sipping wine. I love the holiday season for so many reasons – the lights, the excitement, the displays – but most of all, that it brings people together, for reasons just like this!

I hope everyone reading this has a MAGICAL holiday season, filled with festivity, friends, family, food – and red lipstick 😉

XO, F
